Activating On Our Values

A Business Incubator

As a business incubator, The Hive helps food entrepreneurs launch, grow, and sustain successful ventures while creating opportunities for community engagement and increased sales both on Nantucket and beyond.

A Professional Partner

Through educational programming, mentorship, and business support, Makers gain valuable operational skills and strategic insights that foster professional growth and long-term success.

A Community Space

The Hive also serves as a welcoming gathering place where community members can connect with Makers, enjoy freshly prepared cuisine, and support a vibrant year-round local food economy.

A Localist & Advocate

The Hive model intentionally encourages Makers to source from small farmers to strengthen the Nantucket food economy through meaningful partnerships.

Building the Path for Sustainable and Lasting Change

By providing The Hive Makers with affordable, safe, and professionally equipped kitchen space, along with mentorship and opportunities for sales and community engagement, Remain aims to help food entrepreneurs build resilient businesses and achieve their long-term goals.

In turn, the island community benefits from and supports a thriving local food economy; one enriched by locally made products, regionally sourced ingredients, and innovative Nantucket-based food businesses.

Over time, Remain hopes to graduate successful Makers from The Hive, creating space for a continually evolving pipeline of local entrepreneurs to take advantage of the facility’s resources, programs, and opportunities.

“Rethinking the way we produce, distribute and share food is more essential than ever. Establishing an accessible, shared-space commissary kitchen on Nantucket at The Hive will further the ongoing island efforts to support local farmers and Makers while also expanding the local and regional food systems.”
